TIPS TO FOLLOW WHILE BANDAGING A WOUND

It’s actually quite important to a bandage a wound after you get injured. This should be considered as one of the tasks when first aid treatment is concerned. You have to follow a simple procedure once the wound is cleaned and it stops bleeding profusely. But, if you are not sure about how to go about bandaging, then you should scroll ahead.
Firstly, source the right type of bandage either at the medical supply store or any of the most popularly used online portals. Select an appropriate size or look for a bandage with self-adhesive to protect small bruises. Alternatively, you can think about dressing the wound if you can’t find the bandage. As far as dressing is concerned, leave little material so that the tape doesn’t rest directly on the injured location. In case both aren’t available, then it’s better to wrap the wound with a clean cloth. Remember to smear the wound with antibiotic cream otherwise, you are likely to encounter bleeding.
Next, think about personal care which involves protecting as well as covering the dressing. Instead of using a duct tape, use a water-resistant tape to secure the dressing firmly. Post taping on the wound, cover the dressing with the help of a stretchy bandage. Retain the position of the tape by using safety pins, or metal clips. Add an extra layer of protection with the help of small pieces of plastic between the bandage and the dressing. This tip would prevent the wound from getting damp. In a case of injuries on your head, wrap the wound like a bandana and tie it firmly.
Change the dressing every day. Place a fresh one on the wound to keep it clean and give way to quick healing. Through the hours, if the wound gets wet then you shouldn’t wait for the next day. Please note that a clean wound always prevents infection to spread across body parts. When it’s tough to remove dressings, soak it in lukewarm water. This not only softens the concerned area but also make it very much easier to remove the bandage. While wounds on the skin surface are easier to tackle with, deep cuts get healed to the best extent after some months.
Over a few days, keep examining the wound from time to time. This is because infections may crop up and finally result in pain. Inflammations, greenish pus, red skin, or the high fever are some of the symptoms whenever the area gets infected. Do consult a doctor is such a situation. Moreover, do consider boosting the immune system with a tetanus shot. Think about this only when a pointed object causes the injury. Recall the times when you had taken a tetanus injection. If the time is as long as 10 years, then you should be acting fast.

Finally, take care of the wound just as you would taking care of an infant. Never neglect because infections can lead you to life threatening situation. Shop medical products online and find the best selling bandages.
